Doukades is the kind of village the big resorts skip. It is a short drive from Lakones, with olive groves around it, stone houses and a quiet square.

What to do

  • Walk the lanes. Small churches, old doorways and views over the hills.
  • Eat local. The village has tavernas serving Corfiot dishes; check opening hours, as some close outside the season.
  • Combine with a viewpoint. The Bella Vista viewpoint in Lakones is a short drive away.
  • Add the coast. The beaches of Liapades and Paleokastritsa are close.

Park at the edge of the village. The lanes are narrow and local residents need the access.

A west-coast route

Doukades, Lakones, Angelokastro, Agios Georgios Pagon and Afionas make an easy loop for a day with a car. If you would rather not drive, a guided tour of the west coast does the work for you.
